Physiotherapy
Physical Therapists have been dubbed the “movement specialists”. We combine our in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works, with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat your symptoms. Most importantly, Physical Therapy is a partnership between your therapist and YOU.
They will work with you to set treatment goals
They will create a customized plan to meet those goals with your help
They will educate you about your injury or condition, and teach you techniques to avoid future injury
The rehabilitation process is an ACTIVE one! Without YOUR help, your recovery can be limited.
Together - you can achieve maximal results!
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
What is the Pelvic Floor?
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that sling in between the pelvis. They not only act as a sphincter for the bowel and bladder, but they also support our organs and provide stability of our “core”. In addition, they have a sexual function and play a role in lymphatic drainage.
Dysfunction & Treatment
Injury or dysfunction of the pelvic floor can occur as a result of pregnancy and delivery, surgery, chronic constipation, menopause, aging, trauma/abuse and stress. It is because of this that it is important to take a holistic approach to treatment. This holistic approach will often include patient education, behaviour modification, manual techniques, breathing, and exercise as well as referral to other healthcare professionals if needed.
Vestibular Physiotherapy
Vestibular rehabilitation may help you:
-Reduce dizziness and related symptoms
-Regain function
-Reposition inner ear crystals in cases of BPPV
-Develop ways to compensate for these problems through other senses such as vision
Vestibular rehabilitation uses exercise to address dizziness and balance impairments. Balance is a skill that coordinates multiple systems in the body, and exercise helps these systems work together in a coordinated fashion.
MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident ) Physiotherapy
If you have been in a motor vehicle accident, we can help with any injuries you may have suffered as a result. You do not need a physician's referral to access care, but it is important to try and see a primary care provider such as a physiotherapist within 10 days of the accident to access insurance coverage.
If it has been more than 90 days since the accident, the billing process changes a bit- you would be considered "out of protocol." You are definitely able to access care! Call our office for more information.
WCB(Worker's Compensation Board ) Physiotherapy
If you have been injured at work, we can help you get back to (or remain at) work as quickly and safely as possible! if you have injured yourself at work, your assessment is covered. Once approved by WCB, your follow up treatments are also covered by WCB.
Massage Therapy
Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues in the body - including muscles, ligaments, fascia, and tendons - to enhance a person’s health and well being. By releasing the soft tissues in the body, a massage therapist can reduce stress and anxiety, help rehabilitate injuries, reduce muscle tone, and reduce pain.
There are many different types of massage. Some of the ones our Registered Massage Therapists are trained in include:
Craniosacral therapy
Myofascial release
Deep tissue massage
Swedish massage
Prenatal massage
Trigger Point therapy
Lymphatic drainage
Reflexology
BMD (Blocked Milk Duct) Physiotherapy
Nursing mothers frequently experience painful blocked milk ducts. Usually these resolve with heat and gentle self massage techniques but when this doesn't work, application of therapeutic ultrasound may be indicated. Call our office for more information or to book an appointment
